Lifelong cottager and jewellery designer John de Jong is celebrating almost 30 years of bringing JdJ style to Muskoka. Since launching the brand’s first collection in 1995 on Lake Joseph, JdJ has been hosting the now-annual “Rocks on the Dock” summer jewel event, often partnering with Chestnut Park Real Estate at one of their cottage listings. In 2020, JdJ opened The Jewel Box Muskoka in Port Sandfield, its first season-long pop-up boutique. This season JdJ returns to Port Sandfield, opening its doors to the new Jewel Box Cottage showcasing signature collections
Now celebrating over 25 years as the creative force behind the unique Swiss-Canadian jewellery brand JdJ, designer John de Jong has become known internationally for his signature Couture & Studio Collections as well as bespoke commissions.
Since establishing the eponymous brand, John’s lifelong passion for design and gems has evolved to produce distinct jewels that are easily recognized for their simplicity, quality, and use of vibrant coloured stones – each piece merging design and craftsmanship seamlessly to produce dynamic creations. Art, architecture, and nature continue to be the key inspirations for his stone-focused work.
While his work is sought after and collected by a discerning clientele, JdJ is frequently seen on the red carpet and has been featured in Town & Country, Elle, Hello, O the Oprah Magazine, Fashion Magazine, The Globe & Mail, and The Washington Post.
JdJ has enjoyed recognition as one of a handful of contemporary designers chosen by Christies Geneva to design unique pieces for their Magnificent Jewels auction and to create custom earrings for Canada’s First Lady, Madame Sophie Gregoire Trudeau for a milestone White House State Dinner. Most recently, JdJ is pleased to add Princess Sophie Alexandra of Bavaria to the list of notable women wearing JdJ, after he created custom-made Diamond Sevilla motif earrings for the bride and unique gemstone jewels for her wedding party in what has now become the latest addition to the family of Studio designs … the “Sophie” Collection.
While the brand has a global following, with a showroom and offices in Toronto and Lausanne, Muskoka is still the place that most inspires JdJ collections.
